EXPLORE

Casa Ciliegia is ideally situated to enjoy the beaches on both the Ionian and Adriatic coasts , many of which are less than half an hour’s drive.
Immersing yourself in Pugliese culture is easy with a host of historic towns within driving distance, many with lively markets selling local produce including fresh fish, cheese and organic meat.
For those who don't mind spending a little more time in the car, a trip to Lecce, Gallipoli or Monopoli is always a total delight.
Matera boasts the famous limestone Sassi caves, where people still lived in the mid-fifties and which is now a World Heritage site. There are more extraordinary caves at Grotte di Castellana, with stalactites and stalagmites that have to be seen to be believed.

Ceramics heaven truly does exist in the town of Grottaglie. Most notable are the splatter ceramics, which are created by dipping rosmary branches in paint and flicking them at the bowls before glazing.

There are wonderful cycle paths running for miles from Ceglie Messapica. Keen cyclists will also enjoy ‘Torre Guaceto’, a vast swathe of preserved land near the coast.

With all this and so much more to do and see, once you arrive at Casa Ciliegia, you arrive in the heart of Puglia.
